Nagum Boiken Pre-Contact Figure-New Guinea Art-Oceanic Art
As you all I know I have a special affinity for Boiken art. It is some of the most raw, archaic and powerful of Papua New Guinea. This is a pre-contact figure fragment from the Nagum Boiken folks living around Sassoya on the southern slopes of the Prince Alexander Mountains. The piece was field collected by my friend and colleague Michael Kremerskothen in the 1990s. The figure dates to the late 19th century, is 32 ¾” (83.1 cm) in height and the price is available upon request.
