Fijian Priest’s Oil Dish-Sedre ni waiwai-Polynesian Art-Oceanic Art
The shallow leaf-shaped dishes on three short legs from Fiji are used by priests for scented coconut oil in important rituals and are called “sedre ni waiwai.” This 19th century example has substantial age and was acquired by the American weapons collector Mr. Royal in 1947. It is 15 3/8” (39 cm) in length and sells for $4200.
