Massim Figurative Lime Spatula-New Guinea Art-Oceanic Art
This is a fine late 19th century Massim culture lime spatula topped with a charming figure seated figure. What I look for in early, high quality Massim lime spatula are limbs fully carved free from the torso, elegantly curved and with a real, glossy patina from generations of loving use. This example has all that and the figure has a smiling eager expression. The spatula has some slight loss to one side of the blade. It is 9 ¾” (24.6 cm) in height and sells for $4500.
