This Solomon Island staff or walking stick is surmounted by a large, very well carved female figure with a large classic head, piercing bead eyes, plugged ear lobes and outstretched hands. She is standing on a square base with mother of pearl shell inlays. The staff is ex. Scott Duggleby, ex. Bonhams & Butterfield, San Francisco, 12 February 2010, lot 4061 and ex. Seymour Lazar Collection, Palm Springs. It dates to the early 20th century, stands 41 5/8” (105.6 cm) in height. SOLD
